Gunnar Hansen
Gunnar Hansen is the actor who played on the legendary horror masterpiece “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” the part of Leatherface.
Gunnar Hansen’s early years
Gunnar Hansen was born in Northern Europe in the capital of Iceland Reykiavic, Hansen moved with his family in United States of America when he was five years old. Initially Hansen lived with his family in Maine when he was 11 years old Gunnar Hansen moved with his family to Texas. Hansen Gunnar studied English and Mathematics in University of Texas at Austin.
Gunnar Hansen’s cinema career
In 1973 Gunnar Hansen has just graduated and he heard about an indie horror movie that was being filmed in Texas and decided to try out and his life changed for ever. Gunnar Hansen got the part of Leatherface.
I need to highlight that beyond the fact that Gunnar Hansen was young and new actor he shown a high level of professionalism because for the needs of Leatherface part he visited and studied special kinds in order to determine mannerism.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was a huge success and Gunner Hansen offered a role in the film “The Demon Lover” which was not lucky enough to became a commercial success and Gunnar Hansen decided not to continue acting and he started writing.
Few years later it was offered to Gunnar Hansen to participate in the film “The Hills Have Eyes” but he rejected the offer.
In 1988 Gunnar returned to cinema by performing the part of the main male character in the parody - comedy horror B movie “Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers” and then he performed in twenty other movies.
Beyond cinema Hansen Gunnar has written film scripts, books and articles in major magazines and he has also directed documentary films. Among his best are : “Islands at the Edge of Time”, “Journey to America's Barrier Islands”.
